Rally Postscript

Slow news day or not, only Channel 7 carried a report on our Rally outside State Parliament in Sydney on Tuesday - but it was a good segment, managing to present our case fairly sympathetically.

Of the newspapers the following day, only the Sydney Morning Herald carried a piece... in its The Diary social pages.

But we did get somewhere. When the rally had dispersed, the minister responsible for the Motor Accident Authority, Michael Daley, met with Rob Colligan, chairman of the Motorcycle Council of NSW and speaker at the rally, and promised to make available the data used by the insurance companies to set the new prices. Mr Daley said while a third of the state’s 170,000 motorcycle owners will pay more for their green slip, more than 50 per cent would pay less, and 12 per cent would face an increase of $10 or less.

It’s good to see that something positive is happening, but keep writing those letters. The besieged Ms Kenneally needs to be reminded of the voting power of thousands of motorcycle riders.

I m sorry but I m paying the same now for a 650 as I would be for the 250 I had,so I am glad in a way their in the same ctp bracket.

After a race as physically and mentally demanding as this we left thinking about how much joy certain folks exude when they ride as hard as they can surrounded by other people riding as hard as they can. These are the folks we look for when we ride and when we race. You see them in all of our pictures. See Kennealy post from Race Day for more pics of our favorite hardcore!
And, there are the ones we didn't capture on film- the folks whose "DNF" in the standings means, I stopped to walk a junior rider who had bonked safely off the single track ledge or I stopped and abandoned my bike to hike a badly injured competitor cross country, up a boulder field to the nearest moto-access because that is what we do when we love the ride. We saw you out there and you ROCK!
But now all motorcycle owners and officials promised for rally of these motorcycles riders.
