A new Triumph Scrambler 400 XC has just been unveiled and will go on sale in Australia this August priced from $11,490 ride away.
The new Triumph Scrambler 400 XC will be sold alongside the existing Scrambler 400 X but with more of an off-road look and enhanced off-road capability thanks to the fitment of new side-laced spoked wheels with lightweight Excel aluminium rims and tubeless Metzeler Karoo Street tyres in 19-inch front and 17-inch rear sizes.
Up front the Scrambler 400 XC wears a 43mm big-piston upside-down fork, while the rear has a monoshock, with 150mm travel at each end. Switchable traction control and a dedicated off-road ABS mode are aimed at optimising dirt-road handling and capability. There’ a single 320mm fixed disc up front gripped by a four-piston radial caliper and a single 230mm fixed disc at the rear with a single piston floating caliper.
Power for the LAMS-compliant Scrambler 400 XC comes from Triumph’s TR-series 400cc engine that makes a claimed 29kW (39hp) at 8000rpm and 37.5Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with torque-assist clutch.
Dual format instruments feature a large analogue speedo and integrated LCD screen with digital tachometer, fuel range and gear position indicator. Instrument functionality is accessed via an intuitive handlebar-mounted scroll button. A USB-C charging socket allows for on-the-move charging of handlebar mounted devices.
A new colour-coded high-level front mudguard and flyscreen, together with the handguards, are said to provide protection for the rider in tough conditions, while an aluminium sump guard and engine bars protect vital components. Seat height is an accessible 835mm and the Scrambler 400 XC tips the scales at just 190kg wet.
The new model will be available in three fresh colour schemes: Vanilla White (from $11,490 rideaway) as well as Racing Yellow and Storm Grey (both priced from $11,690 rideaway). Each design features distinctive graphics, with a black Triumph logo, matching the black tank infills with knee pads and a black two-piece rider and pillion seat.
The Scrambler 400 has 16,000km service intervals and is covered by a two-year unlimited kilometre warranty, while more than 20 genuine accessories are available for the Scrambler 400 XC.
