TRIUMPH TIGER 1200 MAJOR UPDATE

Triumph Tiger 1200 gains more power, radar and self-lowering suspension.

The Triumph Tiger 1200 has scored a major update with more power, self-lowering suspension, radar-assisted rider aids and a move to 19-inch front wheels across all four models.

The new Tiger 1200 is available to order ahead of Australian dealership arrivals from December 2026. Pricing is yet to be confirmed.

The range continues with GT Pro, Rally Pro, GT Explorer and Rally Explorer variants, but the changes extend well beyond styling and equipment.

Triumph’s updated T-Plane triple produces a claimed 158PS, or approximately 116kW, at 9250rpm, an increase of 8PS. Triumph also claims stronger low-speed torque and a lower peak-torque point, although the release does not provide a maximum torque figure.

Engine changes include a redesigned cylinder head, new pistons, lighter valves, revised fuel injection and a freer-flowing exhaust. Updates to the crankshaft, balancer shaft and cam profiles aim to improve refinement, while revised gearing and changes to the six-speed gearbox and shaft drive target smoother low-speed operation.

One of the biggest changes is the adoption of a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination across the range, with 200mm of suspension travel at both ends. Triumph describes the revised setup as more road-biased while retaining off-road capability.

GT models use cast aluminium wheels, while Rally versions get side-laced spoked wheels, additional protection and an Off-road Pro riding mode.

Showa’s new EERA Heightflex semi-active suspension brings automatic seat-height adjustment. As the bike comes to a stop, the system lowers the seat by 30mm, then restores normal ride height as the rider pulls away.

Combined with the two-position seat adjustment and an optional low seat, the system can bring seat height down to 790mm at a standstill. Triumph says the low seat will be standard in some markets and an accessory in others; Australian fitment has not been specified.

The suspension offers Firm, Medium and Soft damping settings, automatic preload adjustment and a Centre Stand Assist function that temporarily raises the rear to reduce the effort needed to put the bike on its stand.

Technology also takes a substantial step forward. A new Bosch seven-inch HD touchscreen brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, supported by a waterproof phone compartment with USB-C charging and fan-assisted cooling.

Touchscreen operation is available below 2km/h, with handlebar controls used while riding. A compatible Bluetooth headset is required to access the full smartphone integration features.

Front and rear Bosch radar support adaptive cruise control, Group Ride Assist, forward collision warnings, blind-spot monitoring and rear-distance warnings. Riding Distance Assist can limit acceleration and apply braking when the bike gets too close to traffic ahead, while Emergency Brake Assist can increase brake pressure during heavy braking if a potential collision is detected.

The package works alongside cornering ABS and traction control. Depending on the model, riders have up to eight riding modes, with off-road modes now selectable on the move.

Touring equipment includes redesigned rider and pillion seats with 10mm thicker foam, heated seats and three-stage heated grips across the range. Pro models retain 20-litre fuel tanks, while Explorer versions carry 30 litres and add tyre-pressure monitoring.

Revised bodywork, a new windscreen and an adaptive LED projector headlight complete the visual update. Brembo Stylema brakes and Triumph’s up-and-down quickshifter remain part of the package.

The Tiger 1200 carries a three-year warranty and 16,000km service intervals. Accessory options include GIVI-developed Evo luggage and a new 58-litre top box.
