Moto Guzzi reveals The Trip 500 roadster

Moto Guzzi has announced a new 500-class roadster called The Trip, pairing a parallel-twin engine with accessible dimensions, three riding modes and a claimed running-order weight of 180kg.

Due to make its public debut at EICMA in Milan from 5–8 November, The Trip signals a new direction for the Italian manufacturer, with an emphasis on everyday usability and attracting new and returning riders.

Moto Guzzi says the bike will reach official dealers in early 2027. Australian pricing, local arrival timing and LAMS eligibility have not been confirmed in the supplied announcement.

At its heart is a parallel-twin engine producing a LAMS-compliant 35kW (48hp). Moto Guzzi describes the engine as having smooth response and most of its torque available from low revs.

Exact displacement, peak torque and the engine speeds for its claimed outputs have not been provided.

The emphasis is on manageable performance for commuting and weekend rides, supported by a natural riding position and a seat height starting at 790mm. A 15-litre metal fuel tank sits above the black-finished engine, while the claimed 180kg running-order weight should be an important part of the bike’s appeal to riders seeking a manageable middleweight.

The Trip

Despite that approachable brief, The Trip gets a useful spread of electronics. Ride-by-wire throttle control supports three riding modes: Road, Sport and Rain, allowing riders to tailor the bike’s response to the conditions.

A circular 3.6-inch TFT display offers smartphone connectivity, with backlit handlebar switchgear making the controls easier to locate at night. Pictogram navigation and a quickshifter will be available as accessories.

Styling takes a clean, pared-back approach, with the engine left prominently on display and an LED headlight incorporating a modern interpretation of Moto Guzzi’s eagle motif. The model name is embroidered into the seat.

Moto Guzzi is positioning The Trip as a bike with appeal beyond first-time buyers, targeting experienced riders looking for straightforward fun as well as those returning to motorcycling after time away.

Three colour schemes have been announced: Black Metropolis, Green Grove and Red Beat. A special edition called The Opening will also mark the model’s introduction, although its equipment and production details have not yet been outlined.

Further technical details, including suspension and brake specifications, are still to come.
