MOTORCYCLE SALES HOLD STEADY

Motorcycle sales hold steady according to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.

The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) says motorcycle sales hold steady in the first half of 2025, with off-road bikes up slightly and road bikes down a small percentage.

The FCAI says a total of 42,549 units were sold between January and June, unchanged from the same period last year. Yamaha was the top-selling brand, followed by Honda, Kawasaki and KTM.

It must be noted that these figures only represent manufacturers that are members of the FCAI. Several popular brands imported by Urban Moto Imports (including Royal Enfield and Benelli) and Mojo Motorcycles (including CFMOTO, Kymco and Lambretta) are not included in the sales figures.

For FCAI member brands, sales by segment were as follows:

  • Off-road motorcycles (ORB): 16,807 units (up 3.3 per cent)
  • Road bikes: 16,254 units (down 1.9 per cent)
  • Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV): 6765 units (down 5.5 per cent)
  • Scooters: 2723 units (up 6.8 per cent)

FCAI chief executive Tony Weber said the overall market is holding firm.

“While we’ve seen some movement within individual segments, there remains strong competition and a wide range of products available to consumers,” Mr Weber said.

“Growth in the off-road and scooter categories suggests evolving trends in both recreation and urban transport. As always, the industry remains focused on safety, innovation and rider engagement across all segments.”
