The Aprilia 457 range has been expanded with the addition of the naked Tuono 457 and a MotoGP-inspired RS 457 GP Replica.
The lightweight Aprilia 457 range has been expanded in Australia with the arrival of the all-new Tuono 457 and a new GP Replica version of the fully faired RS 457.
The RS 457 GP Replica is scheduled to arrive at authorised Australian Aprilia dealerships in August, priced from $13,190 ride away, while the Tuono 457 will follow in September from $12,290 ride away.
The existing RS 457 remains in the range, with pricing now starting from $12,890 ride away.
All three models share Aprilia’s LAMS-approved 457cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, which produces a claimed 35kW at 9400rpm and 43.5Nm at 6700rpm.
Aprilia says more than 80 per cent of peak torque is available from 3000rpm, while the Tuono 457 has a claimed dry weight of 159kg.
Tuono 457
The Tuono is built on the same platform as the RS 457 but combines upright ergonomics and naked-bike styling with the sportsbike’s aluminium twin-spar frame, electronics and suspension package.
Aprilia says the aluminium frame remains unique within the class and is complemented by a preload-adjustable 41mm fork and preload-adjustable rear shock.
Braking is handled by ByBre components with Bosch dual-channel ABS, while the rear ABS can be switched off.
Standard electronics include ride-by-wire throttle, three selectable riding modes, three-level adjustable traction control and a 5.0-inch colour TFT instrument display.
Aprilia’s optional MIA multimedia system adds smartphone connectivity, navigation and music and phone controls through the handlebar switchgear.
The Tuono 457 will be offered as a more upright and road-focused alternative to the RS 457 while retaining the same engine, chassis and electronics platform.
RS 457 GP REPLICA
The new RS 457 GP Replica sits above the standard RS 457 and takes its styling inspiration from Aprilia Racing’s RS-GP MotoGP machine.
It is finished in a combination of gloss and matte black with Aprilia Racing sponsor graphics and receives several equipment upgrades over the standard model.
These include the Aprilia Quick Shift bi-directional quickshifter, higher-friction front brake pads, a single-seat cowl and black finishes for the aluminium frame, swingarm and upper triple clamp.
The quickshifter allows clutchless upshifts and downshifts and is normally offered as an accessory on the standard RS 457.
Like the Tuono, the GP Replica retains the 457cc parallel-twin engine, aluminium frame, ride-by-wire throttle, riding modes and adjustable traction control used across the platform.
