REAL-WORLD SUPERBIKE: SUZUKI GSX-10R

Suzuki has unveiled the GSX-10R at EICMA, a real-world superbike with a K5 heart.

The Suzuki GSX-10R has been unveiled at EICMA 2026, a real-world superbike with an engine connection that will interest anyone who remembers the mighty K5 GSX-R1000.

The new bike’s inline-four belongs to the GSX-R-derived engine family that powers the GSX-S1000 variants. That lineage stretches back to the 2005-era GSX-R1000, with Suzuki subsequently adapting the design for strong, accessible road performance in its GSX-S models.

For the GSX-10R, the engine receives revisions including new camshafts, a cam-chain sprocket, cylinder head, barrels, cases and crank journals. Suzuki says the changes support performance and reliability while preparing the engine for future alcohol-based fuels. Claimed output is 112kW (164hp) at 11,000rpm and 106Nm at 9250rpm.

A four-into-one exhaust handles the soundtrack, while an assist-and-slipper clutch reduces lever effort and smooths downshifts.

The chassis combines an aluminium frame with a new aluminium swingarm and subframe. Steering-stem offset has been reduced from 35mm to 30mm, closer to the GSX-R1000R’s 28mm figure, in a change Suzuki says improves cornering performance.

Fully adjustable KYB suspension includes 43mm forks and a rear shock developed for the 10R. Brembo front calipers grip 310mm discs, supported by a radial front master cylinder. Cast aluminium wheels wear Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 tyres, with a 120/70 front and 190/55 rear.

The riding triangle echoes the GSX-R1000R’s, although the 810mm seat is 15mm lower. An 18-litre tank should be welcome for riders planning more than short Sunday blasts, although fuel consumption and touring range remain to be seen.

Much of the technical interest centres on Suzuki’s Smart TLRS system, which combines traction, lift, roll-torque and slide control. Supported by a six-axis IMU, it offers 10 intervention settings, with lower numbers giving the rider more freedom.

Roll-torque control uses lean angle and speed to calculate an appropriate power output before wheelspin occurs. Suzuki says this helps maintain smooth drive through corners, reducing the need for the more abrupt intervention associated with a system that reacts only after traction starts to disappear.

Slide control manages the initial movement of the rear tyre, with traction control providing stronger intervention if needed. Lift control handles wheelies using information from the IMU alongside engine speed, throttle position, gear selection and the clutch switch.

Three selectable power modes retain the same maximum output but progressively soften its delivery. Riders also get cornering ABS, a bidirectional quickshifter, three engine-braking settings and launch control.

Cruise control and an active speed limiter are included, along with a brake-hold function that works on level ground and downhill slopes as well as uphill. Once stopped, the system can maintain rear brake pressure for 30 seconds after the rider releases the brake. It disengages when the bike accelerates forwards or the rider quickly squeezes the front brake lever twice.

Low-rpm assist raises engine speed as the clutch is released to help with smooth take-offs, while Suzuki’s easy-start system requires just one push of the starter button.

A colour TFT display connects to a smartphone through Suzuki Ride Connect+, providing navigation, notifications and weather updates. A USB-C socket sits beside the dashboard.

The bodywork takes styling cues from the GSX-R family, with wind-tunnel development shaping the fairing and screen. Subtle winglets and an angular tail complete the sporting look.

It’s an appealing proposition: familiar engine heritage, substantial chassis changes and electronics that cater for both track days and road riding.

Australian arrival is scheduled for mid-2027 with pricing and colours to be confirmed.
