Brazil has taken out the Triumph Originals 2025 custom competition, with São Paulo-based builder Shibuya claiming top honours for its striking Speed Twin 1200 café racer, Gaijin.
The Triumph Originals contest brought together eight international teams, each tasked with creating the most original custom based on Triumph’s Bonneville range. From those entries, five finalists from Brazil, France, Italy, Thailand and the UK went before a public vote and expert judging panel.
In the end, Brazil edged ahead with Gaijin – a dark, muscular machine featuring hand-crafted detailing, including a scalloped paint design, reshaped tank and reworked tail section. Judges praised the bike as “the most original and coherent of the builds… muscular and athletic with a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.”
Brazil also earned a Mark of Excellence for Craftsmanship, awarded by Heiwa Motorcycle founder Kengo Kimura, who described the entry as “beautifully crafted and packed with ideas.”
The UK team won recognition for British Originality with their Bonneville T100-based Sunraiser, built by Stockwell Design at Triumph London and inspired by 1960s rock ’n’ roll culture. The Italian team, led by South Garage Motor Co in Milan, received a Mark of Excellence for Style for a custom Bobber infused with timeless Speed Twin elegance.
Triumph Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent joined international judges Quique Berna (Tamarit Motorcycles), Ricardo Pessoa (Coolnvintage) and Kimura in selecting the winners.
The Triumph Originals competition celebrates the creativity and individuality at the heart of the Bonneville family, which continues to inspire custom builders around the world.
