TOPRAK RAZGATLIOGLU CLAIMS WORLDSBK TITLE

Toprak Razgatlioglu secures second consecutive championship with BMW after dramatic Jerez finale.

BMW Motorrad factory rider Toprak Razgatlioglu has successfully defended his FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) crown, sealing the 2025 title at Jerez de la Frontera with a third-place finish in the final race of the season. The result marks his second straight championship with the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team aboard the BMW M 1000 RR, and his third career title after previous triumphs in 2021 and 2024.

From slow start to stunning streak

Following his dominant 2024 campaign, Razgatlioglu entered this season as the favourite, though early challenges emerged after off-season regulation changes forced BMW to rework the M 1000 RR package. Despite a strong start in Portimão, where he claimed a hat-trick of wins, rival Nicolò Bulega (Ducati) initially held the upper hand.

That changed by mid-year. From June onwards, Razgatlioglu unleashed an extraordinary run of victories across Misano, Donington Park, Hungary’s Balaton Park and Magny-Cours – four consecutive hat-tricks that propelled him to the top of the standings. A maiden win at Aragón extended his streak to 13 consecutive victories, equalling his own 2024 record. By the time the championship reached Jerez, the Turkish star held a 13-point lead – enough to clinch the title with 616 points overall.

Triumph and farewell

Razgatlioglu’s 2025 championship also marks his final season in WorldSBK before his highly anticipated move to MotoGP. “To get the title was very important for me,” he said. “This was my last year with BMW and in the Superbike paddock, and it’s a great gift to BMW before I leave. It’s not me being World Champion – it’s us. We improved every race and I’m so proud of what we achieved together.”

BMW Motorrad CEO Markus Flasch praised the effort across the entire operation. “The first races weren’t easy, but Toprak and the team never gave up. The winning streak that began in Misano was breathtaking. This title is a well-deserved reward for everyone involved in Munich, Berlin and at the track,” he said.

Head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport Sven Blusch added that calm teamwork under pressure was key: “After the crash in the Superpole Race, the bike was badly damaged, but the crew rebuilt it perfectly. Everyone stayed composed, and that was the key to winning the title. Toprak has written history for BMW.”

Technical Director Christian Gonschor echoed the sentiment, calling the result “a fantastic day to complete a fantastic year”, while Team Principal Shaun Muir said he was “absolutely over the moon” to see Razgatlioglu claim his third World Championship.

Van der Mark bows out

For teammate Michael van der Mark, Jerez marked the end of his full-time WorldSBK career after five seasons with BMW. The Dutch rider delivered more strong Top 10 results and will now transition to BMW’s WorldSBK Test Team to help develop the 2026 package for incoming riders Danilo Petrucci and Miguel Oliveira.

Despite his mixed emotions, van der Mark was upbeat: “It’s been a strange but rewarding year. I’m really happy for Toprak and the whole team. They deserve this title, and I’m proud to have been part of it.”

With Razgatlioglu’s championship secured, BMW Motorrad Motorsport now turns its attention to 2026 – and to continuing the momentum of one of the most successful periods in the brand’s racing history.
