BMW 218HP M 1000 RS HYPER NAKED

BMW reveals 218hp M 1000 RS hyper naked.

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the M 1000 RS, a limited-edition hyper naked that pairs the M 1000 RR superbike’s 218hp engine with a claimed weight of 196kg.

Described by BMW as the world’s most powerful hyper naked, the RS will be limited to 1,000 units worldwide. Global dealer availability is scheduled from March 2027, with Australian pricing yet to be announced.

The technical starting point is the M 1000 R fitted with the M Competition Package, but BMW has drawn further from its superbike parts bin to sharpen the RS.

Alongside the full-output M 1000 RR engine, the new model gets the superbike’s M rider footrests and rear end. A seat height raised by 20mm compared with the M 1000 R places the rider in a more front-wheel-focused position, while retaining the upright stance of a naked bike.

An M full titanium exhaust system contributes to the lightweight specification, while matt carbon M winglets carry RS lettering and provide aerodynamic function.

The styling takes a darker direction, combining matt carbon components with a brushed aluminium fuel tank and new graphics. An M seat with an Alcantara-look finish and embroidered RS lettering completes the package.

BMW Motorrad CEO Markus Flasch says the RS name stands for “Rennsport”, linking the new model to the brand’s racing heritage. BMW points to machines including the RS 255 Kompressor of the 1930s and the later RS 54 as part of that lineage.

For the new RS, however, the headline is its combination of superbike output, low claimed weight and a more aggressive riding position than the M 1000 R.

Australian pricing, local allocation and arrival timing have yet to be announced. For more information on the model, visit the BMW Motorrad Australia M 1000 RS page.
