BMW F 450 GS CONFIRMED FOR AUSTRALIA

The all-new BMW F 450 GS has been confirmed for Australian release and it will land in mid-2026 priced from $10,600 +ORC.

BMW Motorrad Australia has confirmed the all-new F 450 GS will arrive in mid-2026, priced from $10,600 +ORC for the base Exclusive variant. The Sport model will retail for $10,850 +ORC, while the range-topping F 450 GS Trophy will list at $11,390 +ORC.

The F 450 GS marks a new entry point into BMW’s legendary GS adventure line-up, bringing fresh engineering, low weight and advanced rider tech to the midsize adventure segment.

Compact Power and Lightweight Control

Weighing just 178kg ready to ride, the F 450 GS is powered by a newly developed 420cc parallel-twin engine producing a claimed 35kW (48hp) at 8750rpm and 43Nm at 6750rpm – placing it squarely in the LAMS-approved class.

The engine revs freely to 8750rpm and features a 135° crankpin offset with a balance shaft, giving it the smoothness and pulse of a larger twin. Fuel consumption is claimed at 3.8L/100 km, offering more than 350km of range from the 14L tank.

A six-speed gearbox, left-mounted chain final drive and optional Shift Assistant Pro allow clutch-free up- and down-shifts, while the new Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) on the Trophy variant automates clutch engagement for smoother starts, stops and low-speed manoeuvring.

New Chassis and Suspension

The F 450 GS uses an all-new tubular-steel frame with the engine as a stressed member, designed for both rigidity and accessibility. A 43mm KYB upside-down fork handles front suspension duties, while the rear wheel is managed by a lightweight aluminium swingarm with a central KYB shock featuring travel-dependent damping and adjustable preload and rebound.

The Sport and Trophy variants gain fully adjustable sports suspension for more demanding terrain.

Wheel sizes are classic GS spec – 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast-aluminium rims wearing 100/90R19 and 130/80R17 tyres – and the braking package features a 310mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston caliper and a 240mm rear disc, both backed by BMW ABS Pro for lean-sensitive braking.

Electronics and Rider Aids

BMW equips the F 450 GS with an impressive list of standard electronics, including:

  • Riding Modes: Rain, Road and Enduro
  • ABS Pro (cornering ABS)
  • Dynamic Traction Control (DTC)
  • Dynamic Brake Control (DBC)
  • Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR)

The system allows riders to tailor throttle response and intervention levels to conditions, from city streets to loose-surface trails.

Ergonomics and Equipment

A two-piece 845mm seat, high tapered handlebar and narrow midsection provide a comfortable riding triangle for both seated and standing control. Adjustable gearshift and foot-brake levers can be tailored for on- or off-road boots, while removable rubber peg inserts cater to adventure riders.

Lighting is all-LED, highlighted by the signature “X” daytime running light, and a 6.5-inch TFT display comes standard with full smartphone connectivity, music, calls and navigation via BMW’s ConnectedRide app. A USB-C socket in the cockpit provides convenient charging on the go.

BMW Expands the GS Family

“The new F 450 GS brings all the typical GS qualities – robust performance, superior balance and smooth running – in a highly appealing, accessible package,” said Steven Dunn, General Manager of BMW Motorrad Australia.

“Forty-five per cent of all BMW Motorrad Australia sales are represented by GS models, which underlines how well they suit Australian conditions. The F 450 GS provides a new entry point to that world.”

A more off-road-focused variant is also under development, with further details expected in early 2026.
