KAWASAKI VERSYS 900 COMING TO AUSTRALIA

Kawasaki Versys 900

The new Kawasaki Versys 900 and Versys 900 SE combine a 948cc inline-four with a new chassis, electronic rider aids and touring equipment. Australian pricing is yet to be announced.

Kawasaki is adding a sporting edge to its Versys family with the new Kawasaki Versys 900, pairing a 948cc inline-four inspired by its Z-series naked bikes with an upright riding position and long-travel suspension.

Described by Kawasaki as its most sporting Versys yet, the new model will be offered in standard and SE versions. Both are expected to arrive in Australia and New Zealand by mid-2027, with pricing, model-specific details and purchase availability to be confirmed closer to launch.

Z-inspired inline-four

The Versys 900’s 948cc engine produces a claimed 89.6kW at 9500rpm and 97.3Nm at 8000rpm.

Kawasaki says the engine combines controllable low- and mid-range response with a free-revving top end, targeting everything from urban riding to winding roads and longer touring trips.

A Kawasaki Quick Shifter is included in the standard equipment list, alongside selectable power modes, integrated riding modes and Kawasaki Traction Control.

New frame, 17-inch wheels

An all-new trellis frame has been developed for the Versys 900, with Kawasaki targeting a balance of chassis rigidity and front-end feedback. The rear frame is designed to accommodate a passenger and touring luggage, including panniers and a top case.

Kawasaki claims a near-50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution, while the combination of long-travel suspension and 17-inch wheels continues the Versys family’s road-focused approach.

The upright riding position is complemented by a seven-position adjustable screen and a seat adjustable between 825mm and 845mm. Kawasaki says the fuel tank’s shape is intended to help riders reach the ground while providing a secure knee grip.

Detailed suspension specifications and the differences between the standard and SE versions are yet to be announced locally.

Rider assistance joins the Versys range

The Versys 900 is the first model in the family to feature Kawasaki’s Advanced Rider Assistance Systems.

The announced functions include Adaptive Cruise Control Lite, Forward Collision Warning and Blind Spot Detection. An Emergency Stop Signal is also included to alert following traffic during emergency braking.

Kawasaki Cornering Management Function and enhanced ABS join the electronic equipment list. Further details about the assistance systems’ operation and model-specific fitment are still to come.

Connected dash and touring luggage

A five-inch colour TFT display offers two layouts: one emphasising engine information, the other prioritising navigation and vehicle information.

Smartphone connectivity through Rideology The App Motorcycle provides access to additional functions, with the dash supporting turn-by-turn navigation.

Kawasaki calls the new styling concept “Aero Edge”, describing bodywork intended to convey a light, flowing appearance.

An accessory luggage system comprises a 47-litre top case and two 32-litre panniers, providing a combined 111 litres of storage. The luggage has been designed to integrate with the new bodywork.
