2026 YAMAHA SUPERSPORT LINE-UP HEADLINED BY REVISED YZF-R7

2026 Yamaha Supersport line-up headlined by the extensively updated YZF-R7.

The 2026 Yamaha Supersport line-up is led by an extensively updated YZF-R7, with new electronics, revised chassis hardware, fresh styling and special 70th Anniversary colours across key R-Series models.

The 2026 YZF-R7 receives the biggest changes in the range, with Yamaha updating the middleweight sportsbike’s styling, chassis, electronics, connectivity and ergonomics. It remains available in both full-power High Output and LAMS-approved versions, with the High Output model using a 689cc CP2 parallel twin and the LAMS version using a 655cc version of the engine.

Importantly for buyers, Yamaha says both the High Output and LAMS models are available in all four colours: Team Yamaha Blue, Raven, Breaker Cyan/Raven and the special 70th Anniversary Edition colour scheme.

YZF-R7 opener

The 70th Anniversary Edition is the standout of the range, using Yamaha’s iconic white and red speed-block livery, gold Yamaha tuning-fork emblems and special anniversary badging. The scheme is inspired by Yamaha’s racing history and the legendary 1999 YZF-R7 Superbike.

For 2026, the YZF-R7 gets sharper new-generation R-Series styling, including a compact front fairing, slim side fairings, aerodynamic winglets, mirror-integrated LED indicators, minimalist LED lighting and the R7’s signature M-shaped front duct.

The engine also receives a tuned induction system using the same intake duct shape and asymmetrical funnel lengths as the current MT-07, designed to enhance induction sound and rider connection under acceleration.

Electronics take a big step forward, with the MY26 YZF-R7 now fitted with a six-axis IMU developed from the YZF-R1. This enables a suite of rider aids including traction control, slide control, lift control, brake control, engine brake management and launch control, with adjustable intervention levels.

Yamaha Ride Control also allows owners to customise power delivery and electronic settings. There are three factory ride modes, plus the ability to create custom settings through the dash or via the Yamaha Y-Connect app. The High Output version also adds a rain mode.

A third-generation Yamaha Quick Shift System is standard, allowing clutchless upshifts and downshifts under acceleration and deceleration. Other updates include a new 5-inch full-colour TFT display, smartphone connectivity, Garmin StreetCross navigation compatibility, Y-TRAC Rev app compatibility, cruise control, a variable speed limiter and a rear ABS-off function.

Chassis changes include a revised high-tensile steel tubular frame, updated asymmetrical swingarm, lighter fully adjustable KYB forks, new 10-spoke SpinForged aluminium wheels and Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 tyres. Yamaha says the updates are aimed at improving rigidity, feedback and agility.

Ergonomics have also been revised, with slightly higher and closer handlebars, a redesigned seat, lower seat height and a new fuel tank shape to improve rider movement and grip.

The rest of Yamaha’s R-Family range is largely unchanged mechanically for MY26, but several models pick up fresh colours and graphics.
