Continental ContiMotion EVO tyres have arrived in Australia, with pricing starting at $189.95 for a front tyre and $259.95 for a rear.
The 17-inch tubeless radial range is aimed at riders looking for an affordable all-round tyre for sporty weekend riding. It launches with one front and three rear sizes, with Continental naming the Yamaha MT-09, Honda CB650R and BMW R 12 nineT among suitable applications.
The starting price of $449.90 a pair covers a 120/70ZR17 front and 160/60ZR17 rear. The two wider rear options cost $279.95 each, bringing a pair to $469.90.
GRIP AND MILEAGE
The ContiMotion EVO uses Continental’s MultiGrip technology to give different sections of the tread different characteristics without using separate compounds.
Instead, a temperature-controlled curing process creates a harder centre section for wear resistance and softer shoulders for cornering grip. Continental says the process provides a smooth transition between the two, aiming to balance mileage on straighter roads with grip when the bike is leaned over.
The tyre also features the brand’s ZeroDegree steel-belt construction. Its zero-degree belt layout is designed to maintain stability at speed and deliver consistent handling.
A FOCUS ON PREDICTABLE STEERING
Continental’s EasyHandling technology centres on matching the front and rear tyre profiles to deliver neutral steering and predictable low-speed behaviour.
The company says the design is particularly useful in tighter corners, where lower speeds mean less gyroscopic force is available to help stabilise the bike.
For wet-weather riding, diagonal tread grooves channel water towards the edges of the tyre. Continental positions the EVO as a step up from a standard commuter tyre in handling and all-weather grip, although those claims will need to be assessed on the road.
