DUCATI SHARPENS PANIGALE V4

More power, revised chassis stiffness and smarter braking electronics headline Ducati’s 2027 Panigale V4 update, while V4 S buyers gain access to factory customisation.

Ducati has given the Panigale V4 another round of performance upgrades for 2027, targeting faster lap times through changes to the engine, chassis, aerodynamics and electronics. The headline power increase is modest, with the 1103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 gaining a claimed 2hp for a total of 218hp at 13,500rpm. But Ducati says the combined updates delivered an average improvement of 0.4 seconds per lap during testing at Italy’s Vallelunga circuit. Both the Panigale V4 and V4 S return, with the S also joining the Ducati Factory Made programme, allowing buyers to specify colours, liveries and selected components during production.

MORE POWER, FEWER GEAR CHANGES

Engine changes include a revised exhaust, a larger front air intake and lubrication-system refinements designed to reduce power losses.

Ducati says the biggest improvements arrive between 12,000 and 14,000rpm, with a peak gain of 3.5hp at 13,000rpm. Maximum torque is quoted at 120.6Nm at 11,000rpm.

Taller final gearing, changing from 16/41 to 17/42 sprockets, works with a rev limit raised by 500rpm to 15,000rpm in second through fifth gears. The aim is to let riders hold a gear for longer rather than grab another shift just before a braking marker. Ducati says this eliminated two gear changes per lap at Vallelunga.

For track use, an optional Akrapovič Full Racing Exhaust PRO brings claimed gains of 11hp and 7Nm while removing 6.6kg.

MORE FLEX WHERE IT COUNTS

The revised Front Frame has 12 per cent less lateral stiffness, a change intended to help the tyres maintain contact with the surface at extreme lean angles.

Ducati claims improved front-end feel, grip and the ability to tighten a cornering line, allowing higher corner speeds and earlier acceleration.

The final-drive changes also shorten the wheelbase by 8mm, which Ducati says improves agility. On the V4 S, new adjustable clip-ons can be raised by 10mm for track use to give the rider more leverage and reduce physical effort.

The S retains electronically controlled Öhlins suspension and steering damper, forged aluminium wheels and a lithium battery. Its quoted kerb weight without fuel is 187kg.

The standard V4 weighs 191kg without fuel and uses a fully adjustable Showa Big Piston Fork, Sachs rear shock and steering damper, cast wheels and a lead-acid battery. Both have a 17-litre aluminium fuel tank.

SMARTER BRAKING

Dynamic Engine Brake replaces the previous Engine Brake Control system, using Ducati’s Vehicle Observer algorithm to adjust engine braking according to rear-tyre load.

It works alongside the new Race Brake Control, which increases the rear wheel’s contribution during deceleration. Ducati says the combination improves stability and control during corner entry while helping riders make better use of available grip.

The electronics package also includes cornering-capable Race eCBS, traction, slide and wheelie control, launch control and a quickshifter. Five riding modes cover Race A, Race B, Sport, Road and Wet settings.

Other equipment includes Brembo Hypure front brake callipers, a 6.9-inch TFT display and revised biplane wings with enlarged side endplates.

FACTORY-FINISHED TO ORDER

V4 S buyers can choose from 11 colours through Ducati Factory Made, including five sourced from Lamborghini’s Ad Personam programme, plus Corse and Performance liveries.

Selected components can also be fitted during production, including Front Brake PRO and PRO+ packages, an STM dry clutch and adjustable footpegs.

European deliveries are scheduled to begin in March 2027, followed by North America in April and other markets in subsequent months. Australian pricing and arrival timing were not specified in the announcement.
