RETURN OF THE TRIUMPH THRUXTON

The Triumph Thruxton is making a comeback… but in 400cc guise.

The Triumph Thruxton nameplate is making a comeback, but not in the form of the 1200cc beast that was discontinued in 2024, but rather via an expanded 400 line-up thanks to the launch of the new Thruxton 400, a machine that is claimed to blend the brand’s legendary café racer heritage with accessible, real-world performance.

With its flowing tank, compact tail and bullet seat cowl, the Thruxton 400 nails the iconic café racer silhouette. Sculpted fairing, clip-on handlebars and rearset ’pegs give a sporty riding position, while premium touches like a brushed aluminium Monza-style fuel cap, machined cooling fins and deep paintwork underline Triumph’s attention to detail.

At its heart is the most powerful version yet of the 398cc TR-Series single. Peak output is a claimed 31kW (41hp) while peak torque matches the other 400 models at 37.5Nm. Chassis highlights include a tubular steel frame with bolt-on subframe, 43mm USD fork, a gas-charged monoshock and 17-inch cast-alloy wheels. Braking is handled by a 300mm front disc with radial four-piston caliper and a 230mm rear disc, both with ABS.

Technology includes ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control, slip-assist clutch, USB-C charging and an analogue speedometer with integrated LCD.

With a 795mm seat height, 183kg wet weight and 13-litre fuel tank, the Thruxton 400 promises everyday usability with café racer flair. Four paint options and a range of factory accessories allow for personalisation, while a two-year unlimited-kilometre warranty adds peace of mind.

Australian pricing is yet to be announced.
