SUZUKI GOES RETRO WITH GSX-8T AND GSX-8TT

Suzuki goes retro with the launch of the GSX-8T and GSX-8TT midsize bikes.

Suzuki goes retro by drawing on its past for styling inspiration but using its current GSX-8 platform to underpin two new ‘old school’ models, the GSX-8T and the GSX-8TT.

Both machines are based on the GSX-8 platform and are powered by Suzuki’s 776cc parallel twin engine with 270° crank. This is the same powerplant used in the GSX-8S nakedbike and GSX-8R sportsbike.

The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and comes with an electronics package incorporating the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) which features Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), Ride-by-Wire Electronic Throttle System, Bi-directional Quick Shift System, Suzuki Easy Start System, and Low RPM Assist.

There are three selectable power delivery modes, each with distinct throttle response characteristics.

  • Mode A (Active): Delivers the sharpest throttle response and full power output for strong, immediate acceleration.
  • Mode B (Basic):  Provides a more linear throttle curve and softer response, making it suitable for a wide range of road conditions.
  • Mode C (Comfort): Offers the softest response and gentler torque characteristics to improve controllability and ease of use.

The Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) also has three modes:
• Mode 1: Designed for sport riding with minimal system input.

  • Mode 2:  Ideal for
    everyday use.
  • Mode 3:  Best suited for low-traction conditions.

Like the 8S and 8R models, the 8T and 8TT run a steel tube frame combined with a light weight aluminium swingarm. Both also feature a non-adjustable USD fork and a preload adjustable monoshock rear.

Both the 8T and 8TT feature several unique design elements including the fuel tank shape and side covers. The 8TT gets a headlight cowl that Suzuki says is reminiscent of those fitted to bikes in the 70s and 80s. The 8TT also gets an underbody cowl. The 8T comes in a unique Candy Burnt Gold colour scheme while the 8TT comes in Glass Sparkle Black.

Despite their retro styling, Bothe the 8T and 8TT feature Suzuki’s five-inch colour TFT screen, a fast-charging USB-C outlet and LED lighting.

There will be a full range of accessories available to suit both models including luggage, a screen, single seat cowl, protection gear, billet components and more.

The Suzuki GSX-8T starts at $17,990 ride away and the 8TT at $18,990 ride away. Both are due in Australia in November this year.
