Improving the performance, style and handling were the targets of Triumph’s updates to its Speed Twin for 2021.
The result is a touch more power (3hp) across the mid-range and top-end, peak torque being reached at lower revs (now 112Nm at 4250rpm) and more responsive (17 per cent less inertia). Making it nicer to ride is a torque-assist clutch.
The updates were also driven by Euro5 compliance, resulting in improved fuel consumption and longer service intervals, now out to 16,000km.
The forks, brakes and tyres have been upgraded – higher specification Marzocchi USD forks with cartridge damping, higher specification Brembo M50 radial monobloc calipers and Metzeler Racetec RR tyres fitted to new lightweight 12-spoke cast alloy wheels.
The riding modes (Road, Rain and Sport) have been tweaked, and there’s ABS and switchable traction control. There’s also an inder-seat USB charging socket and standard immobiliser.
There’s new brushed stainless-steel twin upswept silencers, new anodised headlight and mudguard mounts, distinctive tank graphics and three contemporary colour schemes.
