Adventure specialist Andy Strapz is heading back to the Himalayas in 2026, teaming up once again with experienced local operator Karma Yatri to deliver a fully guided Kashmir to Kathmandu Epic – a 24-day motorcycle journey that strings together some of the most dramatic landscapes and culturally rich regions on the planet.
Running from 26 September to 20 October 2026, the ride traces a remarkable line across northern India and into Nepal, linking vast mountain ranges and remote valleys that most riders only ever see in photographs. Along the way, participants will ride in the shadow of legendary peaks including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nanda Devi and Manaslu, with the route climbing through the stark, high-altitude passes of Ladakh, skirting the rugged terrain of Spiti, and descending into the greener, more fertile regions of Uttarakhand before crossing into Nepal and finishing in Kathmandu.
But this trip isn’t just about ticking off famous mountain names. One of the defining features of the Kashmir to Kathmandu Epic is the way it moves through a sequence of distinct cultural and religious regions. The journey begins in predominantly Islamic Kashmir, transitions through the Buddhist heartlands of Ladakh and Spiti, then passes into Uttarakhand, widely regarded as the spiritual centre of Hinduism, before concluding in Nepal, known for its deeply ingrained, cooperative and welcoming culture.
Karma Yatri’s experienced local team will lead the group throughout, not only handling the logistics of riding in some of the world’s most remote regions, but also ensuring riders get a genuine taste of the food, customs and daily life that define each area. Accommodation is a mix of comfortable single rooms, with the occasional night spent in a homestay to deepen the cultural experience.
While much of the route follows sealed roads – or what qualifies as sealed in the Himalayas – this is not a casual sightseeing tour. Riders should be confident handling rough and broken surfaces, and prepared for several long days in the saddle. It’s very much a rider-focused adventure, with the emphasis on immersion, momentum and exploration rather than carrying a pillion.
Bikes for the journey will be supplied, with participants riding a mix of Royal Enfield Himalayan 450s and Triumph Scrambler 400 Xs, both well suited to the varied terrain and conditions encountered along the route.
For riders looking to tackle one of the great overland motorcycle journeys – guided by people who know the region intimately – Andy Strapz’s Kashmir to Kathmandu Epic shapes as a rare opportunity to experience the Himalayas from the saddle.
