CFMOTO is calling the new 700MT a ‘multifunction tourer’ but to us it fits into the growing ‘crossover’ category – road bikes with some adventure bike DNA to offer longer travel suspension, light-duty dirt road capability and a comfortable upright riding position.
The 700MT seems to tick all these boxes with its cast 17-inch wheels, comprehensive bodywork, 75 horsepower engine and long travel suspension (the specs list the rear at 45mm, but that’s the shock’s stroke, not wheel travel, which is likely to be triple that).
The value for money equation is huge here: this is a sub-$10,000 motorcycle with lots of modern tech, versatility and a does of European flavour thanks to CFMOTO’s KTM connection, but in recent decades road bike not LAMS approved but under 900cc have languished in showrooms, although there’s been a few exception to that general rule.

This new model will join the revered MT line-up, positioned squarely between the acclaimed 650MT and 800MT models. At the heart of the 700MT lies a potent 693cc parallel-twin engine, this robust powerplant boasts a remarkable output of 55kW @ 8,500rpm and max torque of 68Nm @ 6,500rpm ensuring that riders have the raw, unadulterated power available on tap to conquer any terrain.
Adventure-Ready Design
With rugged, aggressive styling and a robust steel-trellis frame, the 700MT is built to withstand the toughest conditions. Equipped with a pair of 43mm upside-down forks and a side-mounted monoshock rear shock that governs the bike’s aluminium swing arm. This setup offers an impressive 140mm and 45mm of suspension travel in the front and rear respectively, highlighting the motorcycle’s versatile dual-purpose capabilities.
Precision Braking
The 218kg adventure tourer is equipped with two 300mm J.Juan front discs and a single 240mm disc in the rear, ensuring reliable stopping power. A pair of 17-inch CST RIDEMIGRA CM-S1 tyres ensures solid grip on the road, albeit with a road-focused stance – ideal for adventurers looking to conquer highways and twisties alike.
Advanced Technology
Riders are greeted by a five-inch TFT display, providing crucial information like speed, RPM, fuel level and more. The dashboard also boasts smartphone connectivity, integrated navigation and Type A and Type C USB ports, enabling riders to charge and connect their devices while on the go.
