A new interactive Evel Knievel museum will open in Downtown Las Vegas’ Arts District on 27 June, with tickets on sale now.
The Evel Knievel Experience: An Interactive Museum of America’s Original Daredevil will celebrate the life, career and cultural impact of one of the most famous stunt riders in history.
Originally launched as the Evel Knievel Museum in Topeka, Kansas, in 2017, the collection has now been reimagined for a permanent Las Vegas home. The new attraction will combine rare artefacts, interactive displays, archival footage and immersive experiences designed to put visitors closer to Knievel’s world.
Highlights will include Knievel’s red, white and blue jumpsuits, a collection of his motorcycles, the Snake River Canyon Skycycle X-2 and the Caesars Palace jump helmet that helped save his life after his infamous crash, which left him in a coma for 29 days.
Visitors will also be able to walk through the fully restored “Big Red” Mack truck and trailer, which formed a major part of Knievel’s touring operation. Before taking its place in the museum, Big Red will take part in “Big Red’s Run”, a cross-country caravan from Kansas City, Missouri, to Las Vegas. The run will finish with an arrival down the Las Vegas Strip on 23 May.
The museum will also feature a custom 4D virtual-reality jump experience, allowing visitors to sit on a rumbling motorcycle, wear a custom helmet and experience a 16-car jump. Other attractions will include an interactive Jump Planner and Bad to the Bones, which examines Knievel’s most famous crashes and injuries.
“Evel Knievel’s story doesn’t belong to just one generation – it still resonates in a powerful way today,” said Mike Patterson, co-founder and CEO of The Evel Knievel Experience. “We designed this attraction as a place where people can feel that for themselves, whether they grew up watching him or are discovering his story for the first time.”
Kelly Knievel, Evel Knievel’s eldest son and a Las Vegas resident, said the family was pleased to see the collection find a new home in the city.
“We’re thrilled to be able to share what made Evel Knievel so special and such a significant contributor to American culture. The Evel Knievel Experience is another great attraction for visitors to our city,” he said.
The attraction will also include a retail space with licensed products, memorabilia, toys, collectibles and archival items, as well as an on-site café.
The Evel Knievel Experience will be located at 1001 S. First Street in the Las Vegas Arts District. It will open daily from 10am, with last entry at 8pm. Most visits are expected to take 60 to 90 minutes.
